Shopping & Dining
Barra has a variety of international and traditional Mexican tourist shops, boutiques and galleries featuring hand-crafted clothing, jewelry, pottery, wooden carvings, bags, paintings, pottery, t-shirts, and sun hats. Of course there are also plenty of tequila and liquor outlets, as well as regular shopping outlets - grocery, builders supplies, craft and school supplies, and more.

The best shopping can be
found at the weekly Markets or "Mercados". Barra has
one right in the centre of town every Thursday, and
Melque, just 2 kms away, has a larger one every
Wednesday. At the Mercados, you can find almost anything - tourist items, local artisans
products, produce, electronics, clothing, silver jewellery,
and more.
Of course, stopping at the local restaurants along the way for a
snack and refreshment is a must!
Barra has a variety of international, and traditional
Mexican, restaurants, cafes, bars, and nightclubs. Barra
also has Italian, Chinese, German, Seafood, and many other fine
restaurants to tempt your palette.
Musicians wander from restaurant to restaurant serenading customers and it’s not unusual to come across people dancing on the street to a live band that seems to appear out of nowhere. Everything in downtown Barra is within easy walking distance.
